Pumps for the oil and fat industry

Steiner Ukraine supplies industrial pumps for all stages of vegetable oil processing: from receiving and preparing raw oil to refining, bleaching, deodorising and packaging. We select solutions based on viscosity, temperature, the presence of solid particles, the aggressiveness of the environment and reliability requirements in continuous 24/7 operation.

What we pump

  • Crude and refined oil (sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, etc.)
  • Lecithin, neutralises, soap fractions, distillates
  • Suspensions with bleaching clay, filtration sludge
  • Fats, margarine blends, emulsions, pastes
  • Alkali/acid solutions for neutralisation and cleaning (CIP)
  • Side streams and effluents with increased viscosity/temperature

Types of pumps for oil and fat production

Screw (auger, Moineau)

Stable supply of viscous media (lecithin, pastes, suspensions with clay). They work with uneven flows, ensuring even pressure on filters and heat exchangers.

Rotary vane (cam)

Delicate transportation of medium and high viscosity products with solid inclusions. Convenient for feeding oils and fats into filling units; easy to clean (CIP/SIP).

Centrifugal

High costs for clean flows: reception/storage, transfer between tanks, supply to heat exchange. AISI 316L body, seals suitable for temperature and environment.

Peristaltic (hose)

Working with abrasive and shear-sensitive slurries (bleaching clay, sludge). Contact only with the hose, quick replacement without dismantling and long line stoppages.

Membrane and dosing

Precise dosing of alkalis, acids, adsorbents, auxiliary reagents. Chemical resistance, stable operation in pulse modes.

Gears

Uniform supply of clean viscous liquids (refined oil, oils) with precise flow rate — useful for heated flows and pressure stabilisation upstream of equipment.

Barrel

Mobile pumping of oils, additives and reagents from barrels/IBCs. Quick start-up, low weight, easy operation in warehouses and auxiliary areas.

Processes where we use pumps

  • Receipt and storage — pumping raw oil from road/rail tankers into storage tanks
  • Neutralisation — feeding alkalis/acids, pumping neutralisates and soap fractions
  • Bleaching — transporting slurries with clay, feeding them to filters
  • Deodorisation — hot streams, condensates, vacuum circuits
  • Cooling/packaging — supplying refined oil for heat exchange, filling containers, packaging lines
  • CIP/Utility — washing and auxiliary systems, reagents, rinsing

Materials, seals and temperature conditions

  • Materials in contact with the product: AISI 316L, food-grade elastomers (EPDM/FKM/PTFE) — depending on the environment and temperature
  • Seals: mechanical single/double, end pairs for oil/grease/reagents; flushable/barrier fluid option
  • Performance under elevated temperatures and viscosity, including heating of housings/jackets

Advantages of Steiner Ukraine solutions

  • Engineering selection for a specific process and environment — stable operation without overloads and cavitation
  • Energy efficiency — optimisation of the operating point, use of frequency converters, reduction of specific consumption
  • Reliability in continuous operation — selection of materials and components for 24/7 operation
  • Service and spare parts — maintenance regulations, quick replacement of consumable components, support throughout the life cycle
  • Documentation — passports, instructions, SOP — see the section Library

Examples of application and related industries

  • Oil extraction and refining plants — main flows and auxiliary systems
  • Production of margarine/fats — viscous mixtures, heating jackets
  • Cosmetic and household chemicals — fatty ingredients, emulsions
  • Water treatment and effluents — soap-saturated streams, sludge, reagents
